Arbor Day Foundation

The Arbor Day Foundation supports programs that help successfully blend trees and forestry with urban and suburban community planning.  Programs include Tree City USA® which provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs, and Tree Line USA® which provides three key requirements for utility integration with community forests.

The Arbor Day Foundation produces many publications, including these that are relevant to construction.  They may be ordered on the Arbor Day Foundation website for $3 each.

Serious Materials, including EcoRock

Kevin Surace suggests we rethink basic construction materials -- such as the familiar wallboard -- to reduce the huge carbon footprint generated by the manufacturing and construction of our buildings.  He introduces EcoRock, a clean, recyclable and energy-efficient drywall created by his team at Serious Materials.
